The Met Gala may have dazzled us with its high-fashion celebrity attendees, but this month’s main event was undeniably the adorable Pet Gala 2024.

Held on Monday night at the American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog in New York, this fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute featured couture-clad canines mirroring the glamor of their human counterparts from the Met Gala just two weeks prior.

The event, organized by designer Anthony Rubio, saw dogs dressed in outfits inspired by the Met Gala’s best-dressed stars. From Nicki Minaj’s floral ensembles to Zendaya’s flowing Givenchy gown, these pups stole the spotlight. One dog, for instance, channeled Nicki Minaj’s vibrant floral look, while another sported a flowing gown reminiscent of Zendaya’s ethereal Givenchy piece.

Notable furry fashionistas included Daffodil the Pomeranian as Jennifer Lopez, Kimba the chihuahua as Zendaya, Miley-Jo the chorkie as Cardi B, and Bastian the terrier as Colman Domingo. Even Chris Hemsworth had a canine counterpart in the form of a charming shih tzu. Among the pint-sized stars, a larger Leonberger also graced the event, adding diversity to the mix.

Rubio emphasized that the Pet Gala wasn’t meant to parody the Met Gala but to celebrate its spirit with a unique twist. “I want people to understand that we’re not making fun of the Met Gala. We’re not mimicking the Met Gala,” he said.

With tickets priced at $300, the Pet Gala not only brought joy to attendees but also supported a worthy cause. The event showcased the creativity and charm of pet fashion, proving that high style isn’t limited to humans. As these couture-clad canines strutted down the red carpet, they undoubtedly left a lasting impression on the hearts of many.
