Spanish soccer star Álvaro Morata, who recently joined AC Milan, is being forced to relocate after a privacy breach by a local mayor. Morata, who captained Spain to victory in Euro 2024, bought a home in Corbetta, a town on the outskirts of Milan. However, his plans for a quiet life were disrupted when Corbetta’s mayor, Marco Ballarini, revealed his residence in an Instagram post.
Ballarini excitedly welcomed Morata to the town, despite being a fan of Inter Milan, writing: “No, it’s not an early April Fool’s Day. The champion Álvaro Morata is our new Corbetta resident.”
Morata, however, was not amused by the public announcement. In an Instagram Story, he criticized the mayor for “violating my privacy” and revealed that he was already searching for a new house. Morata expressed concern for his children’s safety, writing: “My only treasure is my children, whose safety you have endangered.”
The soccer star lamented the lack of privacy protection in Corbetta and blamed Ballarini’s mishandling of social media for the situation. He also shared his frustration about being forced to move immediately.
Following Morata’s complaint, Ballerini responded with a brief “Ciao” on his Instagram story, accompanied by Inter Milan’s badge and colours.
Morata, who has played for top clubs like Real Madrid, Juventus, and Chelsea, has already scored twice in six appearances for AC Milan since joining the team this season. CNN has reached out to Ballarini for comment.
